Spring Cleaning: Mind, Body & Spirit
All right, we have the feeling of a new year, a fresh start to be whoever you want to be. January was ignited with power and alignment, February put that alignment to the test, and now March is here, ready for you to make room for what's to come!
I love March. The air is crisp, the birds are extra chirpy, and the feeling of newness hits you at every turn. The energy is vibrant, and the anticipation of a fun summer is well underway. The moment March comes, I can't help myself. I start getting rid of things that no longer serve me, cleaning out drawers and closets, and getting rid of anything that messes with my feng shui. Feng shui, you say? What is that?
Feng shui, by definition, means,
"(in Chinese thought) a system of laws considered to govern spatial arrangement and orientation in relation to the flow of energy (qi), and whose favorable or unfavorable effects are taken into account when siting and designing buildings."
When I work with clients individually, I require them to complete an exercise called The Circle of Life. Clients are to rate their level of satisfaction within the circle of life; there are 12 categories, one of which is home environment. You would be surprised that many people rate their level of satisfaction in their home environment as relatively low. Many factors play into this; many are unhappy in their homes because they're cluttered and disorganized, they have poor air and light quality, there are imbalanced elements of wood, fire, earth, metal, and water, a blocked flow of energy, unfavorable color choices, unresolved emotional baggage floating through the air, electromagnetic pollution, sharp corners, and harsh lines, a lack of personal connection, unkempt or broken items... the list could go on. Are any bells going off in your head? Am I talking to YOU?
My question for you, dear reader, is, how do you expect yourself to thrive when your dwelling place disregulates your nervous system? Or are you one who has become so accustomed to dysregulation that you are entirely unaware of that fact?
Being uncomfortable in your home environment is a form of self-neglect mentally, physically, and spiritually.
A dwelling place, by definition, is:
A house, apartment, or other place of residence.
A place to sit, inhabit, and REMAIN. A place you can run to in times of trouble for safety, protection, and restoration.

If you are feeling motivated by this message to get the job done on your own, here are some practical ways to improve the feng shui in your home and create a more harmonious, high-vibe space:
1. Clear the Clutter
• Regularly declutter to remove stagnant energy.
• Keep only items that serve a purpose or bring joy.
• Organize closets, drawers, and surfaces to promote a sense of calm.
2. Optimize Natural Light and Airflow
• Open windows daily to let fresh air in.
• Use full-spectrum light bulbs if natural light is limited.
• Add mirrors to reflect light and expand energy flow.
3. Balance the Five Elements
• Wood (growth): Add plants or wooden furniture.
• Fire (passion): Use candles or warm colors like red and orange.
• Earth (stability): Incorporate ceramics, stones, or neutral tones.
• Metal (clarity): Use metallic finishes white or gray accents.
• Water (flow): Add fountains, wavy patterns, or shades of blue/black.
4. Create a Flow-Friendly Layout
• Arrange furniture so energy (chi) can circulate freely.
• Avoid blocking doorways or windows with large pieces.
• Make sure the main seating area feels secure.
5. Personalize with Meaningful Decor
• Display objects that inspire joy, peace, and motivation.
• Add family photos, affirmations, or vision boards.
• Incorporate colors that reflect the desired energy of each room.
6. Address Sharp Corners and Harsh Lines
• Use round or soft-edged furniture when possible.
• Place plants, textiles, or lamps near sharp corners to soften them.
7. Harmonize Yin and Yang Energy
• Create a balance between dark and light, quiet and active spaces.
• Add cozy, soft elements to highly active areas.
• Use lively decor in overly quiet or dull rooms.
8. Fix What's Broken
• Repair leaks, broken appliances, or damaged furniture to remove stuck energy.
• Replace dead plants with healthy, thriving ones.
9. Be Mindful of Entryways
• The front door is the "mouth of chi," so keep it clean and inviting.
• Avoid clutter at the entrance and ensure the door opens smoothly.
• Add a welcome mat and uplifting decor near the entry.
